Welcome to our home, this is our family tradition of LGC. (Larsen Girl Club) This year we celebrated our 23rd year of Aunts and 1st Cousins meeting the Saturday before Thanksgiving for creating.

Welcome to our home. Put up lights to make people feel welcome, a guest should always feel happy in your home.

The guest bedroom if you feel the need to sleep over. Your always welcome.

 The antique hutch lights the entrance and invites you into a cozy fire with a kettle of potpourri bubbling on the fireplace.

Set up for the 25 guest in a room that barely fits 10. We laugh all day moving around one another trying not to touch paint brushes on our clothes!

Hot rolls out of the oven every hour, variety of soups, and all kinds of treats to munch on. No one is on a diet this day of the year.

 "Christmas Cosmopolitan" a holiday drink made from cranberry Juice, ginger ale, cranberries, sliced limes, oranges and sprigs of rosemary. With LOTS of ice.

 This year our theme to LGC was "A family that sings together stays together" We grew up with music as a strong part of our family core. Susan, Jule and Mary Lu were taught to harmonize with one another from a young age. All of the cousins love to hear them sing at family parties. This year we sang together songs from our past.

 Creation #1 was this winter moon to hang on your front door.

Creation #2 was this holiday star.

Creation #3 was our LGC bracelet 

Aunt Jule pouring pearl tea and making Julekaga (ul-la-ka-ga) in memory of her name. We come from Norwegian heritage and this year we wanted to honor it by making this holiday bread. We followed the recipe on an old card written by Grammy (our beloved Grandmother)

Lots of laughs and memories made at LGC 2015, we started at 11am and ended around midnight.

WHATS ON YOUR MANTEL

I Love the last few months. It starts in September, we go to Swiss Days a fall Christmas morning for me, with my mom, sister, and sister in laws. Driving up the canyon with your diet coke and maybe a donut is just making memories.

I love Fall because of Swiss Days kick off, I usually buy a birthday present there which adds to the love, then you have Halloween and a HUGE day in my family called LGC(which you will see), then the Thanksgiving feast to end the fall love.  

 I have these  Great custom made mantle to hide some dated old  rock that I didn't know what to do with. Its easy to add décor to it when its done in 3's or 5's which means you just need a lot fabulous stuff.

The BIGGER THE BETTER, THE MORE THE MERRIER

I believe every where needs a flower. I love flowers they bring happiness.

These year I was obsessed with white pumpkins and the color of natural things.

The wreath I made with coffee filter, dollies, paper, and lots of pins. my old books where a find in the house I am living in now ,thank you Grandma Ivy for having a library. the acorn is a birthday gift see why I love fall. Enjoy the next few weeks with the mix of pumpkins and evergreens, turkeys and holiday music.

Thanksgiving dinner hostess gifts and dinner guest gift ideas. This helps bring love and gratitude to the dinner table.

We love to have our dinner later in the evening by candle light.

The little pumpkin is tagged for your place setting and it sits on a german glass glittered votive. 

Dinner mints to the left, a danish tin as a parting gift, and the table runner is detailed with a shabby floral edge created by me.

 This bowl is full of ideas for the Hostess or the Dinner Guest. (Details are below)

 Angel Wing Notes. This is a vintage doily made into a bag, which holds hand stamped note cards.

 The Guest Book, everyone at the dinner party signs and leaves a thoughtful memory.

  A little bag of bubblegum indian corn for your guest.

Danish cookie tin, embellished with a thank you note from the hostess.

After dinner mints that are a finishing touch to the table setting. (Altoid Tin)

I call these my Coco Chanel gloves.  Black $1 gloves with a felt bow design at the wrist. (I know Coco would be proud) This is a great gift to give the Thanksgiving dinner Hostess.

November Decorating Ideas

 In the month of November I think everyone gets stumped on decorating ideas. It's that in-between time of Halloween decorations coming down and wondering if Christmas decorations would be too soon?...

 If you want to break away from the tradition of turkeys and pilgrims, take a view into my home. I thought plates and antique silverware I've collected from flea markets would be suiting for the theme of Thanksgiving.

 My Grandmother would tell me to polish my silver, but I like the antique look.

 Wheat in a tall glass vase with a piece of burlap tie around it.

 Navy Blue and Gold for November, why not?!

 It's maybe not a turkey but a pheasant is sure cute

 When I received these plates in the mail, it had a cute personal note about where the plates came from.

 Just because Halloween is over you don't have to throw out the pumpkins. My husband thought I was a little strange for wanting to buy this green type of squash in the grocery store. But tie a ribbon around the top and place a piece of barked wood under it, Wa-lah! Unique fall decor.

 Pewter is another favorite to decorate with in the fall time! It just gives that final touch. The leaves added in the bowl are fake leaves lightly sprayed with a metallic gold spray paint.

 Antlers... I can't say enough about how much I love to decorate with these. My Dad (who is a hunter) would be proud of me for saying "Antler" and not "Horns." Cows have horns but deer and elk have antlers because they "shed" every year and grow new ones. I can just hear him telling me that.. although I doubt my Dad will be reading this blog ;)

This antique door knob was another flea market find. It's a cute little extra touch on the pewter and vintage look I was trying to go for this November.
