The Get Away Cottage Down South

Another memorable Mary Lu house tour.
We took a road trip, just us girls to St. George, Utah to lay in the sun and learn the ways of Mary Lu.

If you are familiar with St. George then you will be pleasantly surprised by this Quaint French Cottage in the middle of dessert landscaping.
Most homes in the southern part of Utah are themed with cactus and Native American decor- Well not this one!
Just look at the entrance with green Topiary Trees and English Ivy to greet you as you walk in.
Her home is the cutest on the block!

-COME INSIDE FOR THE ROOM TOURS-

Wall paint color:
Halo by Benjamin Moore.

The tile in the entrance was not so cute.. but with white chalk paint it's brand new!

SPRING IS HERE
The season of fresh new inspiration for your home!  Take one room and make it your
"breath of fresh air"
A new mirror, light feature, window cover, rug, wall paper or new air freshener scent.

When we walked into Mary Lu's home we felt peaceful, comfort and welcomed.
It's uncluttered : physically and mentally - everything is in its place -

OUR SPRING CHALLENGE
 Unclutter your home.
little by little you have the power to transform your home from chaos and into a place of rest and rejuvenation.

-ONTO THE LIVING-ROOM-

-TURNING TO THE RIGHT INTO THE KITCHEN-

Mary Lu makes her home an inviting haven for family and friends.

Bench at the table with fluffed pillows.

LAPIN MEANS RABBIT
(We had to google it)

The little details

-Houses are autobiographical's of our lives-
(Definition for Autobiographical: (of a written book) dealing with the writer's own life)

It senses the artist, the eclectic collectors, the cottage lovers, the historians, the storytellers, and the designers of color and texture.

Let the light in your home!
Open your curtains, shutters, draperies.
Shalana's advice to anyone reading this, "Open your windows on sunny days and let the stale winter air out of your home. Let it exhale after a long winter."

These back windows invite the sunlight into the home as well as the moonlight.

We have deep danish roots, our grandfather was first generation to America.
It's a danish tradition to display your porcelain plates.
Dinnerware is a treasure to us! One more thing... no LED lighting! Lamps, chandeliers and candle light only... ONLY.

These decor pieces line the empty space between the counter and the cabinets.
Oh that Mary Lu, she thinks of all the details.
And don't forget the finishing touch of a medallions to place between the ceiling and light fixture.

Spring represents fragility and gentleness
Put a little of that in your decor with a glass cloche on your cake stand.
-Add Lilly of the Valley to any flower arrangement, it's a sign of sweetness in your home-
Blue wicker chairs with pok-a-dot cushions.
Get creative and find a material you like, stitch it around an old cushion to give a new spring feel.

-DOWN THE HALL AND INTO THE GUEST BEDROOMS-

Jump into a cozy Mary Lu made bed.

Our favorite thing in this room, the decor added to the flatscreen on the wall and space above the window.
Loooove that.

-GUEST BEDROOM #2-

We will be showing a Mary Lu fixed bed with the step by step process.
Keep a look out for that video coming soon.

Freshen up bed linens with single color pallet sheet sets.
Choose a warm cream sheet set and iron your pillow cases.
Use throw pillows for a quick and easy fresh bedroom feel.

A cute wooden bench for the corner of the room.

Always a fan of the pillow textures she has layered on a bed.

-GUEST BATHROOM-

Give her a hammer and she can do anything!

We felt like we were in a hotel with our towels.

Soaps in a glass jar. Classic Mary Lu touch. This also makes for a great gift idea.
Look for soaps at Tj Max or Home Goods, they usually have fun options.

-NOW TO THE WEST WING OF THE RAMBLER-
THE MASTER BEDROOM

Loving the combination of textures on this bed. And that lace bed skirt!

Lights from Home Depot.
Gentry is on her way there right now!

Little stitch work to go in a frame. Get creative people!

-GLANCE AT THE WASHROOM ACROSS THE HALL-

Great wall paper choice and detail on the cabinet.
It's the little things that add up!

-BEFORE/AFTER-
